Slim Chickens is opening its second Liverpool restaurant, at Liverpool Shopping Park on Edge Lane, on Thursday 17 September. The US fried chicken brand is rolled out in the UK by Boparan Restaurant Group, its master franchisee, which operates some sites directly and grants others to franchise partners.
The new restaurant opens at midday on 17 September, with a Nashville-style hot chicken menu of tenders, wings, sandwiches and shakes. Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG) has not stated whether this particular site is run directly by the company or by one of its Slim Chickens franchise partners, so this article describes it as a brand opening rather than confirming it as a franchised one. It follows earlier BRG-led openings for the brand at Heathrow Terminal 3 and Basingstoke’s Festival Place.
Opening day promotions headline the launch
The first 100 customers through the door will get a free portion of Chicken Tenders, worth £5.45, with a house dip. The next 5,000 customers each get a “Fresh Drop” scratch card, with prizes including free meals and, for one winner, a year of free weekly meals worth up to £14.95 each.
A “Spin the Wheel” game inside the restaurant will also give away merchandise and shakes on the day. Tom Patrick, marketing director at Boparan Restaurant Group, said: “We’re really excited to be opening our second restaurant in Liverpool. We’ve had a fantastic response to Slim Chickens in the city, so Liverpool Shopping Park felt like a natural next step for us.”
Why it matters: BRG runs a mixed franchise model
Boparan Restaurant Group has held the master franchise for Slim Chickens in the UK and Ireland since 2018, and its own rollout has used two routes at once: sites it runs itself, and sites granted to independent franchise partners such as KK Restaurants SW and JRK Restaurants, which between them cover clusters of restaurants in the south west and south coast of England. That mix means a new Slim Chickens opening announced by BRG is not automatically a franchised unit, and this one has not been confirmed as either.

Part of a wider UK rollout
The Edge Lane restaurant adds to a run of UK openings for the brand this year, including its first UK airport site and a restaurant in Basingstoke. Neither the number of jobs the new restaurant creates nor its floor area was stated in the announcement.
Boparan Restaurant Group has not said where Slim Chickens will open next in the UK. Brands recruiting partners on published terms sit across the fast food franchises recruiting in the UK.
