Black Sheep Coffee opens a new shop at 90-92 Gordon Street, near Glasgow Central Station, on 27 October 2026, run by Glasgow-born franchisees and creating around 20 jobs. Propel reports a Glasgow franchisee is lining up three more Glasgow-area sites, adding to a presence that the Glasgow Reporter put at 150 jobs.
The Gordon Street shop is built around grab-and-go service for commuters and office workers on one of the main routes to Glasgow Central. It offers 20 internal seats and an outdoor seating area, and trades from 6am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and from 7am on Sundays. To mark the opening, it is serving £1 coffees all day, with a branded tote bag for the first 100 customers. The Glasgow Reporter published the details on 23 October 2026.
More Glasgow sites in the pipeline
Propel’s 27 October headline says the franchisee is adding to its Glasgow presence and lining up three more sites. The Glasgow Reporter names Glasgow Fort, Clydebank and Stirling as sites at an advanced planning stage, though it does not give opening dates. Glasgow Fort is on the east side of the city, Clydebank lies to the west and Stirling is a separate city in central Scotland, so the pipeline spreads beyond the city centre. Propel’s full story is behind a sign-up wall, so the two reports are treated here as separate sources that may describe the same plans. The franchisees’ wider regional operation supports 150 jobs, according to the Glasgow Reporter.
Franchise partners in Scotland
QSR Media reported in May 2026 that Black Sheep opened a shop in the Buck’s Head Building on Argyle Street in Glasgow on 12 May, with around 90 seats, in partnership with SUR Coffee Group, described as its franchise partner in Scotland. The report said that group had more than a decade of experience, over 500 staff and several Glasgow sites, including on Byres Road and Sauchiehall Street, the scale of operator most coffee franchises in the UK now recruit. Neither report seen says whether the Gordon Street franchisees are the same group, so the two operations are not treated as one.
Commuter footfall as the format driver
Gordon Street is described as a busy thoroughfare for thousands of people walking to and from Glasgow Central each day, and the unit is set up as a fast takeaway with some seating. The opening hours, from 6am Monday to Saturday, match the commuter focus the Glasgow Reporter describes. The report adds that the new shop joins other commercial tenants on the street. It does not compare Gordon Street with nearby coffee competitors or give trading forecasts.
Good to know
The Gordon Street shop is a Scotland opening run by franchisees, so business rates follow the Scottish regime rather than the English one, one of the divergences covered in UK franchise law: how England, Scotland and Northern Ireland differ. The reports seen do not publish rent, fit-out cost or franchise fees.
What comes next
The three planned sites would take the franchisees’ Black Sheep estate beyond the Gordon Street shop, but no opening dates have been published. The opening-day offer ends on 27 October. After that, the shop trades on its normal menu and hours. The reports seen do not give an updated Scottish site count for the brand.
