Aldi UK has named the first 10 towns and districts where it plans to open new stores in 2027, from Halifax to the Isle of Wight. They are the first sites confirmed out of the 40 openings in its £900 million programme for next year. The discounter is still opening nearly 30 stores before Christmas.
On 8 October 2026, Aldi UK announced the first sites it has confirmed for 2027. The announcement follows the discounter’s annual results of 28 September, which put turnover for the UK and Ireland at a record £19 billion for 2025, up 5%.
Operating profit was flat at £432.9 million. Aldi says it now trades from 1,095 stores in the UK, against 1,092 at the time of its results. Less than a week ago it published its list of 24 new stores opening before Christmas, plus three relocations.
Ten sites in England and Wales
Nine of the ten sites are in England and one is in Wales. London takes three of them: Angel in north London, Clapham in south London and Kew in south-west London. Devon has two, Exmouth and Ivybridge. The other five are Halifax (West Yorkshire), Haywards Heath (West Sussex), Winnersh (Berkshire), Ryde on the Isle of Wight and Bridgend in South Wales. Aldi announced no site in Scotland or Northern Ireland, and has not published an opening date or a store size for any of the ten.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “We’re continuing to invest significantly across the UK as we progress towards our long-term ambition of 1,500 Aldi stores.”
He added that the new sites are part of the £900 million investment programme for 2027 and that the company looks forward to welcoming customers “in the years ahead”.
A £900 million programme for 2027
Aldi announced the 2027 programme with its results. The £900 million covers 40 new stores and continued work on its distribution network. The ten sites named on 8 October are therefore a quarter of next year’s target, and the other 30 have not been named.
Aldi says its rollout focuses on communities with limited access to affordable groceries, either because local choice is limited or because there is little competition, the same catchments the food and drink brands recruiting UK operators target. The company has also spent £340 million on price cuts across more than 1,000 products in 2026, and says it spent £14 billion with British suppliers in 2025.
Two pipelines running side by side
The 2027 list arrives while Aldi is still delivering this year’s programme. On 2 October the discounter said it would open or relocate nearly 30 stores over ten weeks, including Dumbarton, Newport in South Wales and Willesden in north-west London.
One of the three relocations, in Sutton Coldfield, opened on 8 October. To reach its long-term goal of 1,500 stores, Aldi needs about 400 more sites than it trades from today. At 40 openings a year, that would take about a decade.
Good to know
Aldi UK does not offer franchises. Its website and press centre carry no franchise page or offer, unlike the grocery and convenience brands taking on operators in the UK.
What remains to be confirmed
Several points are still open. Aldi has not said when in 2027 the ten stores will trade, and the quote from its property director mentions the years ahead rather than a single year. The remaining 30 sites of the 2027 programme have yet to be named.
Aldi has not published the planning status of the ten addresses, which is set by each local planning authority. The next public markers are Aldi’s Christmas trading update and any further site lists from its property team.
