A hands-on drainage franchise serving commercial and domestic customers in your own postcodes

The Drain Guys provides emergency drain clearance and plumbing for domestic and commercial customers, along with CCTV drain surveys, home buyer drain surveys, drain cleaning and repairs, 24 hours a day. The business was established in 2016 by Gavin Dimmock, who had worked in the drainage industry for several years, and in 2019 began hiring staff and taking on larger contracts across the South East.

Around 70% of its work is commercial and 30% domestic, according to the company. Commercial clients include block and facilities management companies, schools, care homes and colleges, some of them on annual or twice-yearly preventative maintenance contracts, while domestic work is mostly emergency call-outs.

A franchise for people who will do the work

Unlike management franchises in drainage, The Drain Guys looks for franchisees who are happy to roll up their sleeves and carry out the work themselves, at least at the start. No drainage experience is required: the franchisor provides technical training to work as a drainage maintenance and repair specialist, alongside ongoing business training. Each franchisee receives exclusive rights to operate in their chosen postcodes, subject to availability.

The franchise was developed with the specialist consultancy The Franchise Company and solicitors affiliated with the BFA. Franchisees receive the brand’s website traffic, marketing materials and business planning support, including financial forecasting based on the company’s own model.
