The world's largest pizza chain by outlets, franchising in the UK only to operators building a portfolio of stores.
A Pizza Hut franchise in the UK is awarded to multi-unit operators rather than to individuals wanting a single store, and the company publishes no UK investment figures.
Pizza Hut began in Kansas in 1958 and is part of Yum! Brands. It reached the UK in 1973 as a restaurant chain and added a delivery service in 1988. Two distinct formats operate here: full dine-in restaurants and delivery units.
Those two arms are separate businesses. Pizza Hut Delivery is the franchised operation and has the wider UK reach, while the restaurant arm is a distinct entity whose UK franchisee was sold through a pre-pack administration.
How franchising works at Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut Delivery is not seeking owner-operators content with one or two stores. The stated requirement is for franchisees able to grow to a minimum of four to six stores as quickly as possible, in support of the company’s wider growth strategy. Previous experience in food or catering is preferable, and delivery units require a minimum of 650 sq ft.
Franchisees receive training and ongoing support tailored to their experience, the use of the brand and its systems, and day-to-day support from Franchise Business Managers, Acquisitions Managers and specialists in marketing, new product development and training.
Pizza Hut publishes no UK investment figure, franchise fee or capital requirement on its own site, and is not a featured franchise on the main UK directories. Figures circulating online disagree sharply with one another.
