LCF FunLanguages,
The Original Fun Language Learning Company

Presentation

LCF FunLanguages (originally “Le Club Français”) was founded in 1985 in Southampton by John & Linda Ellis. As an experienced language teacher, Linda identified a gap in the market for fun, high-quality French lessons for children. Their first classes were an immediate success, quickly becoming oversubscribed and leading to rapid growth in schools and local centres.

The concept expanded across the UK and internationally, with franchisees now operating in countries including Brazil, Australia, New Zealand and Hungary. Today, hundreds of centres worldwide offer engaging language learning experiences.

In the UK, LCF Clubs has rebranded as LCF FunLanguages, part of Fun Languages International, alongside “Le Club Français”, “El Club Español”, and digital platforms such as BabelZone and EnglishZone.

LCF FunLanguages offers a flexible franchise model designed to fit different lifestyles. Franchisees can run small clubs or build larger businesses, with full training, ready-made lesson plans, and ongoing support. The model is designed to be accessible, with no need for expensive setup or prior business experience.

With over 40 years of experience, LCF provides strong operational support, marketing guidance, and proven systems to help franchisees launch successfully and grow with confidence.

The brand continues to expand across the UK, focusing on school and nursery clubs, with future opportunities in adult language learning. LCF FunLanguages is ideal for anyone passionate about languages and education who wants to build a flexible, supported business

Industry Strengths

The children’s activities sector is showing huge growth, and there are more options for parents and educational establishments than ever before. The strength of the after-school care side of the sector is that parents will always need and want alternative care provisions to standard after-school care.

The sector itself is supported by two quality associations, including the Children’s Activities Association, of which LCF is a certified member, and comes with significant government guidance on the role of safeguarding and responsibility while caring for children.
With experience we also see many teachers being creative in their use of the material, with private tutoring and mixed age groups becoming new potential streams of income, among others.
