A turnkey barbershop franchise from the South Coast, with a flat chair fee instead of royalties
Champion Barbers was established in 2012 by Dan Champion, with its original shop in Ringwood, and runs barbershops across Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset, many of them in historic buildings. Alongside its shops it runs a barber training centre, offering free training to people who want to become professional barbers, and sells its own range of grooming products online.
Its 2023 franchise brochure describes five company-owned shops, all within a short distance of each other, which it says proves the brand can support several shops under one owner in a small area. The company aims to build a network of up to 200 franchisees over 10 to 15 years.
A barbershop franchise without royalties
Champion Barbers sets itself apart on fees. Instead of taking a percentage of turnover, it charges a flat monthly fee for each chair that is staffed or rented, with nothing charged in the first four months. Franchisees own 100% of their businesses and receive a large territory of around 40,000 people.
The franchise is aimed mainly at barbers: owners who cut hair need at least two years’ experience, while investors can partner with or employ an experienced barber. The package includes standard shopfitting, signage, barber’s chairs, equipment, tills, a bookings app, initial stock, eight days of training and a 10-year franchise agreement with the right to renew.
