A new step forward in delivering accessible digital skills for children

Jam Coding, known for its commitment to enhancing digital skills among young learners, has announced the opening of its inaugural Computing Lab, set to launch in January 2026 at the Intuition Tuition Centre in Cheadle. This significant development marks an exciting milestone for the company, which has dedicated over ten years to providing innovative digital skills workshops and computing lessons within primary schools across the UK.

The new Computing Lab caters specifically to children aged 4 to 13, offering a structured programme that is aligned with the national curriculum. This unique educational environment focuses on key areas such as coding, problem-solving, and creative computing. Unlike traditional school-based sessions, these labs welcome all children, affording families the flexibility to enroll directly without constraints. Each child will partake in lessons designed to yield measurable outcomes, reassuring parents that they can actively monitor their child’s progress and witness their growing confidence in computing.

Roger Grogan, the Chief Executive Officer of Jam Coding, emphasizes the significance of this launch, stating: “The launch of our first Computing Lab is a huge step forward. They’re a response to parents with a growing appetite for coding and computing lessons outside of the school setting, offering a more flexible opportunity that any child can join. Each digital skill a child learns can, on average, increase their potential future earnings by 1 to 2 percent, so it’s vital that children are developing these skills early.”

Leading the operations at the Cheadle site will be Su Watty, the Area Director for Jam Coding Stockport. She expressed her enthusiasm about the venture, saying, “It’s an absolute honour to be leading the launch of Jam Coding’s very first Computing Lab in Cheadle. Every child deserves the chance to unlock their potential through digital skills, and this Lab will be a place where they can grow in confidence, creativity, and ambition. It’s a privilege to help guide these young minds, and I’m excited to see where their journeys take them.”

This pioneering Computing Lab represents the first of several planned locations across the UK, with additional openings anticipated throughout 2026. Jam Coding remains steadfast in its mission to create accessible opportunities for children to acquire essential digital skills, preparing them for an increasingly digitized future.

Jam Coding is a pioneering franchise focused on empowering the next generation with digital skills. After a decade of providing engaging computing education in primary schools across the UK, Jam Coding aims to expand its impact with its first dedicated Computing Lab, ensuring all children have access to essential coding and problem-solving skills.
