The US auto insurance franchise sector is showing accelerating growth. Freeway Insurance, a division of Confie and one of the largest personal lines brokers in the country, added five new franchise locations in California and Alabama on July 9, bringing its total footprint to 28 states as demand for affordable, independently operated insurance retail continues to climb.
Founded in 1987 and acquired by Confie, the nation’s leading personal lines insurance distribution company, in 2008, Freeway Insurance has grown into one of the most active franchise networks in the insurance sector. The brand’s franchise network expanded by 174% over the past two years, with more than 75 locations sold across the country. In 2025, Entrepreneur‘s Franchise 500 ranked Freeway among the top 500 franchise model opportunities in the United States.
Five New Franchise Partners Across California and Alabama
The five new locations are each operated by independent franchise partners. In Alabama, Beontre Carter opened a store in Millbrook. In California, Van Vasquez and Blanca Perez opened in Clovis, Stephen Paris in Brentwood, Marione and Joyce Llarena in Pomona, and Rafael Guzman Jr. in Galt. Each location operates under Freeway’s multi-carrier model, giving customers access to coverage options across auto, home, renters, commercial, and other personal lines products through what the company describes as a “click, call, or come in” service format.
A $25,000 Entry Point Into the Insurance Distribution Market
The Freeway franchise carries a $25,000 initial fee, with a discounted option of $15,000 for honorably discharged veterans. “At Freeway, our focus is on opening doors to ownership by delivering a reliable framework, hands-on mentorship, and a service-driven philosophy that helps franchise partners thrive and evolve in the auto insurance industry,” said Alex Trachtman, Senior Vice President of Franchise Sales and Operations. The brand positions itself as an accessible entry point into insurance retail, citing both the lower initial investment relative to other franchise categories and its backing by Confie’s national carrier network.
National Buildout Shows No Sign of Slowing
With operations now active in 28 states and more than 75 locations sold in two years, Freeway has tripled its franchise footprint since 2024. The brand is publicly recruiting new franchise partners across the country, citing rising demand for affordable insurance access as a structural tailwind. Operators benefit from Confie’s multi-carrier infrastructure, which enables franchisees to offer a broad range of coverage options without managing carrier relationships independently.
