The resale retail sector continues to gain momentum among franchise investors, and ranchise brand BaseCamp Franchising is capitalizing on the trend. The parent company of Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid celebrated the opening of its 300th store in Weatherford, Texas, after adding 16 locations across 10 states in the first half of 2026. The company has also signed 45 new franchise agreements year-to-date.

BaseCamp Franchising operates two complementary franchise concepts: Uptown Cheapskate, which targets young adult shoppers with curated secondhand clothing, and Kid to Kid, focused on gently used children’s clothing, toys, and gear. The network now spans 33 US states with an additional 50-plus stores under development. System-wide sales surpassed $300 million in 2025, representing year-over-year growth of more than 20% — a trajectory the brand is continuing into 2026.

According to a press release dated July 21, 2026, BaseCamp opened 16 stores in 10 states during the first six months of the year, with its 300th location opening in Weatherford, Texas. The company also signed 45 new franchise agreements over the same period, indicating that the pipeline behind current openings remains active. For a franchise system built on the resale model, the 300-unit milestone reflects a network large enough to carry meaningful brand recognition at the regional level.

The secondhand clothing market in the United States has expanded significantly in recent years, driven by consumer interest in value shopping and sustainability. BaseCamp positions its two brands at the higher end of the resale experience, emphasizing store presentation and product curation. “There is tremendous pent-up demand for a more curated, elevated resale experience,” said Zach Gordon, Co-CEO of BaseCamp Franchising, “and we’re excited to bring Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid to more communities across the country.”

The model differs from traditional thrift retail in several respects: stores purchase inventory directly from sellers, which allows for quality control and a more consistent shopping experience. This structure has contributed to the brand’s appeal among franchisees seeking a retail concept with defined operational processes and a clear consumer value proposition.

Among the markets BaseCamp has targeted in recent development activity is the Northeast, where consumer density and higher disposable incomes represent a different opportunity profile from the brand’s traditional Southern and Western markets. Gordon has cited Massachusetts as one state where early results have reinforced the company’s confidence in regional expansion. With 33 states already in the network, the remaining white space for BaseCamp largely consists of mid-Atlantic and New England markets, alongside continued infill in existing territories.

With more than 50 stores under development and 45 new franchise agreements already signed in 2026, BaseCamp’s near-term opening count is already largely visible. The brand released updated FDDs for both concepts earlier in the year following a 2025 characterized by record system-wide growth, giving prospective franchisees access to current performance data as they evaluate the opportunity. The combination of two distinct but operationally aligned concepts under one franchisor umbrella is a structure that some multi-unit investors find efficient from a support and training standpoint.
