Two new sites for EG On The Move and Co-op collab

2 Min. reading time

EG On The Move and the Co-op have launched two new sites in the UK this month, growing their fuel forecourt and convenience food franchise collaboration.

The two sites, both of which combine EG On The Move’s petrol forecourt with a Co-op retail outlet, are in Moston (Chester) and Buchandyke (East Kilbride, Scotland).

The re-developed Moston Service Station – opposite Chester Zoo – operates 24 hours a day and includes six pumps, four electric vehicle charging plus, air and vacuum. A Subway outlet also operates on the site and there is a free ATM dispensing cash.

Launching on the same day is a roadside service station in Buchandyke (East Kilbride). It opens between 6am and 10pm and includes six petrol pumps along with air and water.

Co-op’s convenience stores at each site also include self-service Costa (Moston) or Lavazza coffee (Buchandyke); bakery products; hot food; cold drinks, alongside a focus on quality fresh, chilled and healthy produce; meal deals; dairy; freshly prepared sandwiches; pizzas, ready meals; flowers; car care products and everyday essentials.

All the Co-op’s own fresh and frozen dairy, meat and poultry produce is 100% British.

The launch of the two collaborative sites comes after a successful trial last year and the launch of a joint venture on the A1308 near Stowmarket this July and a site in Wyberton, Lincolnshire, in September.

Michael Hargreaves, Co-op head of forecourt franchise, said: “We are focused on scaling our franchise business by sharing our convenience expertise with quality partners, and look forward to identifying more locations for joint growth with EG On The Move where we can create further compelling forecourt and convenience food sites together.”

Zuber Issa, CEO, EG On The Move, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Co-op on our latest sites. We are focused on creating destination sites, with strong food service and quality convenience retailing.”

Co-op is one of the world’s largest consumer-owned co-operatives, with a history dating back more than 180 years and seven million members who play an intrinsic part in the governance of the organisation.

EG On The Move is working with the Co-op as a franchise partner to expand Co-op’s presence in the roadside retail market. They are expanding this model significantly, aiming to grow their franchise collaboration with Co-op to dozens of sites by 2027
