Greggs has opened its 600th franchise outlet in the UK as it seeks to grow the business to capitalise on increasing consumer demand.
The 600th outlet is in Stonecross Services in Bexwell with franchise partner Motor Fuel Group (MFG). Greggs currently has 14 franchise partners across the UK, including 147 on MFG sites, such as petrol stations.
Through franchising, Greggs is able to expand into smaller locations with high footfall, such as travel hubs.
Tony Rowson, property director at Greggs, said: “Reaching 600 franchise shops is a milestone achievement for Greggs and our partners. It underlines the continued success of our franchise model and the vital role our partners play in accelerating the expansion of our estate. As we close out 2025, we remain committed to ensuring Greggs is available in more of the locations our customers want us most.”
As part of its growth strategy and also to access travel hubs and other small-space, high traffic sites, Greggs has also recently opened its first ‘Bitesize Greggs’ shop in Sevenoaks railway station. The ‘Bitesize Greggs’ will be rolled out alongside more traditional, larger Greggs shops.
Greggs says it opened an average of four new shops per week in 2025 and added 57 new franchise outlets. Franchised sites account for over 20% of its total network.
