Chick-fil-A announced on September 21 a plan to open nine new locally owned franchise restaurants<\/a> across western Pennsylvania by end of 2028, covering communities north, east, and west of Pittsburgh as well as the Johnstown-Altoona-State College corridor. The expansion is projected to create approximately 1,080 jobs and will be accompanied by a $25,000 donation to a Feeding America partner food bank for each new opening.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement marks one of the largest coordinated development pushes of the franchise brand<\/a> in the region in recent years. Chick-fil-A<\/strong> operates more than 3,000 locations across the United States, and western Pennsylvania has been one of the markets where the brand’s footprint has grown steadily since 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each restaurant is run by a locally selected franchisee<\/a> who is expected to live and work full-time in the community they serve, a model the company calls the “Owner-Operator” program.<\/p>\n\n\n
